October 1st is International Day for Older Persons 2020. The theme this year highlights the role of healthcare workers in contributing to the health of older persons and we want to again pay tribute to our VisionWest Support Workers and the tremendous work they do.
So many go above and beyond simply carrying out the household tasks allotted to them. To many of our whānau they are a friend, confidante and lifeline to the outside world. Thank you again to our Support Workers for their hard work, compassion and commitment to our elderly whānau.
In the year 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020, VisionWest’s 1,416 Home HealthCare Support Workers provided a total of 1,340,690 hours of care to 7,173 elderly whānau. This care meant these people could remain living independently in their own homes for longer. Well done, VisionWest Support Workers.
We also want to honour our older whānau for all they contribute to our community. Just remember, “Faces age, bodies change, but a good person is always a good person.”
