Matariki is a time for coming together, to eat and laugh together. To support the thousands of people who experience food insecurity in Aotearoa, we [The Vodafone Foundation] have partnered with VisionWest Community Trust in Auckland and the City Missions in Wellington and Christchurch to drive our Kokinga kai (food collection) campaign across our main Vodafone New Zealand offices.

That’s the message sent out by the Vodafone Foundation to Vodafone staff throughout New Zealand over the time of Matariki. At the beginning of July, for two weeks, staff were encouraged to purchase an extra grocery item each time they went shopping and bring it into the office. The food donated by the Auckland office went to VisionWest’s Pātaka Kai food support service.

VisionWest is thrilled to have been named one of the Vodafone Foundation’s partner organisations. We greatly appreciate the generosity of Vodafone’s Auckland office staff who donated over 400 items of food for the Vodafone Kokinga Kai Campaign and to the Vodafone Foundation which donated $1 for every item of food donated.

The food and money donated will help support West Auckland families throughout this winter.
