Most people come to Visionwest with a variety of complex financial, physical and emotional challenges.
Staff in each of our support services often find themselves stepping outside of their usual role to provide extra support. That’s what happened to Jo, one of our financial mentors.
Here’s a story shared recently by one of Jo’s grateful budgeting clients:
“Due to personal circumstances in my earlier life, I’m phobic about leaving my home without support. During the recent lockdown, I had to deal with the serious health issues of my companion animal Charlie* who provides me with the support I need to be able to leave the house and who is my only companion.
I live alone with no family to call on and so getting Charlie to the vet was a real challenge for me. In fact, it would have been impossible for me, and life-threatening for Charlie, if not for the help of Visionwest.
On the day I could no longer put off going to the vet, I was really anxious about going out and worried about Charlie. Jo [my Visionwest financial mentor] graciously took the time to follow me in her car, wait for me outside the vet and then follow me safely home again.
That “going the extra mile support” gave me the confidence I needed to leave my home and venture out for the help needed.
All appropriate COVID lockdown safety measures were followed, and the end result was peace of mind for me and appropriate care for Charlie. I’m so grateful to Visionwest and all their supporters who make this kind of compassionate help possible.”
