A good news story from Karen, our Team Leader at Luke Street Housing.
In the week leading up to Easter, I visited the whānau who are a part of our Luke Street housing complex homes. To try and break the humdrum of lockdown, I arranged a colouring-in competition for the children and challenged the parents to write a poem or story about what Easter means to them.
Of the 20 units VisionWest steward, 11 of our whānau participated leaving me with the hardest part, choosing the winners (although, every participant was given something). So I had to call on our faithful Support Navigator, Mavis, who helped with choosing the winners and delivering the prizes.
It was great fun and awesome to see the completed pictures hanging in front windows. It was good to be able to show the people housed here that we care for their wellbeing beyond just giving them four walls and a roof to live under.
