Each year Visionwest runs Christmas From The Heart a collaborative initiative centred on addressing Christmas hardship in Te Uru o Tāmaki Makaurau (West Auckland).
The latest report from Visionwest provides an insightful overview of the 2022 Christmas From The Heart event and includes high-level information about whānau who required support at Christmas and some of the unexpected reasons why some whānau found support necessary.
This report also includes reflections about the current level of hardship faced by many in Aotearoa New Zealand and what needs to change in order for food security to improve so that events like Christmas From The Heart are no longer needed.

- Of those who were recipients of Christmas From The Heart support, almost 65% said their financial situation was worse this Christmas than the previous one.
- 58% acknowledged that the thing that would make Christmas better was if they could improve their finances.
- A significant number of people stated that one of the biggest benefits of Christmas From The Heart support was the stress relief it brought to their whānau.
