Early in the morning on Friday last week, a group gathered to participate in the Karakia Whakawatea (Dawn Blessing) of the new VisionWest offices in Greerton, Tauranga.
This blessing was led by Rewiti Te Mete of Nga Matapuna Oranga and local Kaumatua. Alongside VisionWest staff were Trudy and Donna from Pirirakau who we partner with in Tauranga. During the blessing, Rewiti presented VisionWest with a river stone taonga gifted by local iwi and to which they bestowed the name “Te Kitenga i te Uru” (The Vision from the West).
This blessing comes at the culmination of many months of looking for new offices for our Tauranga Home Healthcare team. Anyone who worked in, or visited, the previous offices will know how desperately this move was needed. Richard and his team did a wonderful job of getting it set up and the Tauranga team were super excited to move in on Tuesday.
Jo Neuhauser, Coordination Team Leader says, “The new office is amazing! So fresh and clean and everyone just loves it”. Led by Rita Blade, Tauranga Home Healthcare have a team of around 23 in-house staff, overseeing 340 Support Workers who deliver care and support to 1600 clients.
