How Respite Care works

We start by getting to know your loved one – their routines, preferences, and care needs – to make the transition as smooth as possible. While you take time for yourself, our Support Workers provide reliable, compassionate care.

You can arrange respite care as a one-off or set it up regularly, depending on what works best for you.

Support to give caregivers a break

Respite care can be about providing a person’s usual carer with a break, or it can be about sharing the load of the day-to-day responsibility of caring for an older adult or a person living with a disability.

Whether you need a break from providing care due to other responsibilities, or you just want to share the load, we can help. Talk to us today.

Who can access Respite Care?

If you are the primary caregiver for a disabled person, someone recovering for an injury, or an older person, you may be eligible to some funded support to take a break.

Respite Care is usually allocated by NASCs and funded by Te Whatu Ora: Health NZ, MSD Disability Support Services, and ACC.

The type of respite you might get depend on your needs, the needs of the person you care for, and what is available in your area.
