At Visionwest, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to stay connected to the life they love, surrounded by the people and places that matter most. Talk to us today about what that support looks like for you.
Types of Disability Support
In addition to our in-home services provided by our dedicated team of Support Workers, we offer flexible care options that allow you greater choice and control over how your care is delivered.
These include Individualised Funding, giving you the flexibility to design and manage your own Support Plan, and ACC Maximise Independence, which gives you greater control and choice of your home and community support following the impact of a life changing injury.
Our approach ensures that every Support Plan is unique, responsive, and focused on supporting each person’s goals, abilities, and wellbeing at home.
Individualised Funding – manage your own support
Individualised Funding (IF) is a programme provided by MSD Disability Support Services that gives disabled people and their whānau greater control and choice over their disability support services. This allows them to manage a direct budget for personal care, household management, and respite.
To be eligible, individuals must be assessed by a NASC (Needs Assessment and Service Coordination) and approved by DSS (Disability Support Services) for funded support. Once approved, they can use IF to fund specific services, hire their own support workers, and manage their support plans to achieve their personal goals.
ACC Maximise Independence – recovery at home
Visionwest Home Healthcare is an approved provider of ACC Home and Community Support to Maximise Independence.
This service helps you recover from injury, regain control over daily life, and rebuild confidence at home and in your community.
We also partner with trusted Allied Health professionals – such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists – and offer Nursing Services to enhance your recovery and support your long-term wellbeing. Once ACC refers you to us, one of our Care Managers will meet with you and your whānau to create an Individual Support Plan (ISP) tailored to your recovery goals.
We’re here to make life easier, restore independence, and help you continue living comfortably in the place you call home.
How to access disability support services
You may be eligible for Disability Support if you live with a disability, or have a disability resulting from an accident.
Delivered by our qualified Visionwest Support Workers, these services are free for those who qualify for government-funded support. Access to these supports can be arranged through Te Whatu Ora Health NZ, MSD Disability Support Services, and ACC.
If you are not eligible for funding, or you need more support than is covered by your funding, you can also access Personal Care Services by paying privately – see here for details on our privately funded services.
