At Visionwest we understand that most people in need require more than just one service. The challenge is to determine the specific type of support required and to deliver it in a way that builds hope and trust.
The Matapuna Whānau Centre is the first point of connection for many whānau who are new to Visionwest. It is where whānau tell their story so their true needs are heard, their hopes and desires are understood, and the necessary practical support can be initiated. As Rayanna, the Centre’s Coordinator says:
“One thing that is really good and extremely motivating for me is that we provide a wraparound service for those who come to us … if someone comes for food, we go beyond just supplying a box of groceries. We look for other ways we can help each person so they know they are being cared for and that there is somewhere they can go, whatever their needs might be.”
This is the ‘wraparound support’ your generosity provides, last year it meant the Matapuna Whānau Centre was able to connect over 1,300 new clients to Visionwest’s support services like community housing, emergency food, budgeting and counselling services so they could begin their journey to life transformation.
