WHĀNAU SERVICES

Community Housing

We support young people out of unemployment and journey with them along the pathway to a brighter future.

We believe in rangatahi and their power to make meaningful change and to live positive and productive lives – at Ōhinga Tū we commit to walking alongside you as you discover this truth for yourself. We do this by following He Pou Whakakitenga, Visionwest’s Kaupapa Māori framework which highlights wairua, matauranga, hauora and tikanga.

Ōhinga Tū is a holistic and wraparound approach to support that enables you, regardless of your past struggles, to achieve your goals and aspirations. If you are aged between 15 and 24 years, we can offer you a range of supports which includes pathways to employment, higher education, and housing.

If you are a young person struggling to get into work or training, and who needs support to get on your feet, your youth worker will walk alongside you and help you to achieve your goals, so you can stand tall.

Programmes

Ōhinga Tū designs and delivers programmes to help young people improve their self-belief and employment prospects, while offering hands-on skills development with a difference.

We do this by providing free, quality education and training aimed at guiding young people into full-time employment in an atmosphere of belonging and unconditional support.

Our range of courses and learning opportunities is supported by skilled mentors and learning tutors.

We have several employment and training programmes to choose from.

Through our training programmes you can…

  • Receive help to prepare your CV and apply for appropriate jobs.
  • Receive mentoring to help find a job and support you in the first months of a job.
